  • Trekking Everest Three Passes

Mt. Everest as seen from Renjo La pass

The Three Passes Trek is the best route to cross three 5,000m+ passes.

For those with three weeks to spare, the Three Passes Trek takes you over three 5,000m+ passes and is the finest way to properly see the Everest Region. The walk incorporates elements of the Everest Base Camp Trek, but crossing the Renjo La, Cho La, and Kongma La passes provides even more breathtaking vistas of the Himalayan giants. The Three Passes trek can be paired with other Everest Base Camp Trek versions.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek has been more accessible since the installation of new lodges in 2010.  The walk includes all of the fantastic elements you’d expect from a classic Himalayan climb—deep, lush valleys at lower elevations, incredible views of 8,000m peaks, and a 5,000m+ pass crossing—while staying relatively unspoiled by tourists.

Despite its growing popularity and new road development, the Manaslu Circuit remains remote and has fewer trekkers than Nepal’s more well-known classic treks.

The trailhead is an eight-hour trip from Kathmandu.

Upper Mustang’s desert hills

The Upper Mustang Valley’s arid desert landscape. In comparison to practically all other treks in Nepal, the Upper Mustang Trek’s parched valley has a unique landscape. This region is in the Himalayas’ desert rain shadow, with its numerous shades of brown and crumbling sandstone cliffs. Mustang was formerly its own country, and the strong Tibetan influences make this a very fascinating tour.

Take two connecting flights to get to the trailhead: Kathmandu to Pokhara (25 minutes) and Pokhara to Jomsom (45 minutes) (20 minutes).
